People’s Leasing contributes towards waste mgt. efforts at Sigiriya World Heritage Site
People’s Leasing and Finance PLC provide their contribution for the installation of the waste segregation bins in Sigiriya Rock Fortress in Dambulla on a need identified under the guidance of the Central Cultural Fund.
The effort is carried outin collaboration with Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha and MOH Office.
The primary objective of the initiative is to create a proper waste disposal system to preserve our country’s ancient world heritage sites as well assisting in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).
Waste Management involves the regular collection, transportation, processing, disposal or recycling and monitoring of different types of waste materials. Through proper management of the waste segregation, we can save a considerable amount of money and prevent the environment from being harmed.
The project was initiated in accordance with a concept by Shamindra Marcelline - Chief Executive Officer/general Manager of People’s Leasing Company.
The established waste bins with the awareness boards were handed over to the general public by Susil Priyantha –Assistant Regional Manager of People’s Leasing & Finance PLC, Upul Nishantha - Project Manager of Sigiriya project in Central
Cultural Fund in Dambulla, Dhanuka Udayanaga - Assistant Director, Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Senevirathnesecretary of Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Dr.dayantha Weerasekara –Medical Officer of Health, Dambullaand Wasantha Kumara – Public Health Inspector, Dambulla recently.
