● Premier says relevant officials should be summoned before COPE and questioned as to why the process has been delayed

Following Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s instructions, the management of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) today (20) to inquire into the current gas shortage and related solutions, the Parliament media united said.

While expressing views in Parliament yesterday on the need to expedite the gas distribution process, the Prime Minister instructed to summon the Litro Gas before the COPE to look into the matter. He told Parliament that Litro has failed to take immediate steps to supply gas in spite of the payment has already been made for the gas shipment.

He said bowsers were not assigned to transport the consignment to the Litro plant even by 8.00 pm on Wednesday.

The Premier said relevant officials should be summoned before COPE and questioned as to why the process has been delayed.

“How can they take time to attend to these matters when people are suffering? They should work hard during this difficult time,” he said.
