SJB SUSPENDS HARIN, MANUSHA

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has suspended MPS Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara of their party membership after they accepted ministerial portfolios, party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said yesterday.

Mr. Madduma Bandara told Daily Mirror that the party memberships of these two MPS were suspended as they acted against party policy by accepting portfolios. Earlier Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament that MPS Fernando and Nanayakkara would be subjected to disciplinary action.

“SJB decided to support all good and nation friendly moves of the new government while being in the opposition. However two of our MPS have accepted ministerial portfolios against the stand of our party. We therefore will take disciplinary action against them,” Mr. Kiriella said.
