Compensation?

-

Parliament is in session and three quarters of the 17th of May was wasted to elect a deputy speaker. One reason why a contest was held was because the newly appointed PM felt a female should hold this position in keeping with equality of gender as per the constitution. time was wasted excessively due to the SECRET BALLOT. It is no secret that Rs 9 million is the cost for a single day of parliamentary sittings!

At present the discussion is regarding the events of 9th May onwards.we,as Sri Lankans, totally condemn the violent actions of many unruly thugs. We are made aware of the number of MPS who were affected by these acts of vandalism. It is said, certain victims in parliament are requesting a committee to be appointed to investigate these incidents, so that compensation be paid to these members. One can remind these our representatives that acceptable compensation was not provided to the Easter Bomb victims and their families. No JUSTICE for these victims can be seen in the near future. MPS do not care to focus on the number of people who have perished and continue to suffer whilst waiting in fuel/gas/milk powder queues.where is the compensation for these Sri Lankans? What about all those deaths and destruction reported as an aftermath of contaminated cooking gas supplied to the public without any warnings? What about the farmers in distress, unable to cultivate due to the wrong decisions made by the President? These are only a few instances where compensation should be given. Should these our representatives be so selfish as to only think about their losses when there are so many, far less fortunate people, who should be prioritized for compensation? We notice that these Parliamentary sittings are generally purely about themselves. It is no secret that most of them have acquired colossal amounts by unfair means.this is in addition to all the perks they enjoy: Vehicles, fuel, subsidized telephone calls to mention some.we are also made aware that a special fuel station is in operation purely to provide fuel to these our representatives.this is unbelievable as we see thousands waiting for days in long queues to get a few liters of fuel while these select few, who owe their positions to us the voters are recipients of fuel without any hassle.they should never forget they are in this assembly purely to see to the needs and aspirations of those who were stupid enough to vote for them. We are vehemently opposed to paying compensation to these MPS.

We as citizens of Sri Lanka demand that before compensation is given to these members of parliament, other very urgent needs of the people are dealt with, many of whom are on the verge of starvation, in addition to being deprived of urgent medical requirements etc, as well.
