PREMIER INTER-CLUB T20 UNDERWAY FROM TOMORROW
The Premier Inter-club T20 tournament will begin tomorrow, with four matches down for decision at two venues. The tournament will see 22 teams in action which are divided into four groups with defending champions Army SC slotted in Group ‘A’ along with Panadura SC, Air Force SC, Police SC, NCC and Chilaw Marians CC.
In Group ‘B’ are last year’s runners up Colts CC along with Ragama CC, Sebastianites CC, Nugegoda S&WC and Bloomfield C&AC while Ace Capital CC, SSC, Tamil Union C&AC, Badureliya CC and Kurunegala YCC are in Group ‘C’ and the six teams in Group ‘D’ are BRC, Moors SC, Galle CC, CCC, Kandy Customs CC and Negombo CC. The tournament is slated to end on June 11 after which the Premier League three-day tournament will begin from June 16.
The tournament will come to a halt temporarily for the Lanka Premier League, beginning on July 30. Meanwhile, SLC will also conduct a schools’ cricket awards ceremony to felicitate talented school cricketers who are future aspirants to the national team, to be held for the first time.
The domestic tournament calendar will come to an end with the Premier limited overs tournament which is scheduled to be conducted in October.
The four matches are between defending champions Army SC vs Chilaw Marians CC at P Sara Stadium in the morning which will be followed by the match between Moors SC and Kandy Custom SC at 2.00 p.m.
Panadura SC will meet NCC in the morning session at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona and Galle CC will be pitted against CCC at the same venue in the evening session. Six matches are down for decision on May 28 being Ragama CC vs Bloomfield C&AC, Badureliya CC vs Tamil Union and Nugegoa S&WC vs Sebastianites C&AC at SSC, P. Sara Stadium and Panagoda. The matches at the same venues in the evening session are SSC vs Kurunegala YCC, Air Force SC vs Police SC and BRC vs Negombo CC respectively.
