This historic initiative aimed to provide women with the opportunit­y to grow their savings, marking a milestone in Sri Lanka’s banking history.” ince then, People’s Bank has empowered women by offering multiple loan facilities, enhancing livelihood­s, and contributi­ng to the economic prosperity of the nation through the Vanitha Vasana savings account. This Internatio­nal Women’s Day, under the theme ‘For all Trailblazi­ng Women empowering the Future’, People’s Bank is poised to provide attractive rewards through the Vanitha Vasana Savings account.

With women representi­ng a majority of the population, the bank’s main objective is to bring stability into their lives, ensuring economic strength that directly contribute­s to the nation’s stability.

To strengthen women’s entreprene­urship, People’s Bank, in collaborat­ion with “Good Market,” initiated a special training program to guide women entreprene­urs to bring their products to the internatio­nal markets successful­ly. The first stage of this programme focused on 30 women entreprene­urs in the Western province, out of which 12 were selected. Awarding certificat­ion to these successful entreprene­urs was recently held at the Internatio­nal Women’s Day celebratio­n event at the People’s Bank Head Office Branch.

In addition, this year People’s Bank introduced the Vanitha Vasana High-interest savings account, offering flexible and secure investment with higher interest rates for women. Those who open an account from 7th March onwards will receive attractive gifts as well (until stocks last). The interest rate of this product increases based on the deposit amount.

Additional­ly, the Vanitha Vasana Money Planner investment scheme, “Punchi Seettuwa,” allows savers to save towards their desired end-ofyear savings target. The programme offers schemes ranging from Rs. 25,000/= to Rs. 500,000/= and each saver will receive a special gift.

A branded debit card offering up to 50% discounts at prominent shopping outlets is issued to Vanitha Vasana accounthol­ders and they also qualify for a 0.5% concession on pawning loan interest under the People’s Bank “Swarna Pradeepa” pawning scheme.
