Chalitha extends lead at SLG Ranking Tourney
Chalitha Pushpika showed his mastery over the course, maintaining an impressive oneunder-par total score of 215 on a thrilling third day of the
Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) Ranking Championship 2024, which continued at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) yesterday.
Pushpika’s top-class performance extended his lead to a commanding nine-shot advantage, positioning him as the firm favourite for the championship title. With Pushpika having a commanding lead, the battle for the remaining positions intensified, with rising star Reshan Algama holding onto his second position for the second day in tandem with a total score of
224. Algama, although yet to reach his full potential in this tournament, displayed top-class concentration and determination, maintaining his position within striking distance of the top spot ahead of today’s final day.
Priya Hemantha, from the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR), ended in the number three position. He secured the third position with a total score of 225.
Hemantha’s consistent performance throughout the championship sets the stage for an exciting final-day showdown for the top positions.
Uchitha Ranasinghe, another outstanding player, advanced from seventh place to fourth place. Ranasinghe’s remarkable climb up the leaderboard adds another layer of excitement to the final day’s proceedings.
Yannik Kumara, who had a grand day two, maintained his fifth position with a total score of 228.
After day three the top five golfers were: Chalitha Pushpikaww (215), Reshan Algama (224), Priya Hemantha (225), Uchitha Ranasinghe (227) and Yannik Kumara (228).
