Golf Resort (VGR) are set to be adorned with the finest strokes of golfing talent as the nation’s top amateurs gather for the 2024 May National Ranking Tournament, which will be conducted once again by Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) from May 13–17 at Rajawella. Today will be a practice session for all the participants.

Embraced by lush greenery and bathed in serenity, VGR serves as the perfect backdrop for this prestigious event, promising players an unforgettable experience. The tournament will follow a format of 72 holes of Stroke

Play Gross, ensuring a true test of skill and endurance for all participants.

Among the top contenders are esteemed champions, including the recently celebrated duo, Chalitha Pushpika and Uchitha Ranasinghe, who secured the esteemed J.R. Jayawardena Trophy from the challenging course in Pakistan. Their presence adds an extra layer of excitement to an already anticipated event, promising fierce competition and gripping performances.

The absence of Reshan Algama, the 16-yearold who has remarkable talent, is notable. Algama, the leading Sri Lankan golf sensation with a WAGA ranking of below 600, has opted out of the tournament due to commitments to his academic side. Recently selected for the Scotland Junior event, Jevahn Sathasivam too will miss out due to his examinations, while Kaya Daluwatte too will miss due to prior tournaments in India, where she studies, and in Nepal.

Among those expected to seize the moment is Yannik Kumara, another promising youngster whose talent and determination have garnered attention in the golfing community.
