America recently mourned the loss of entertainer and television host Regis Philbin. With his smiling face and infectious charm, Philbin made millions of Americans smile when they tuned into his cheerful morning TV show – Live! In fact, it lasted for more than 23 years.

Regis was at his best while bantering with his audience about the events in his life, which sometimes included his home in Greenwich, Connecticut. He and his wife Joy had purchased it in 2008, and they lived there until the couple moved to California.

He often joked about his lack of home repair skills, which meant leaving them up to Joy to get done.

When they put the house up for sale in 2019, Joy said: “We’ve moved around a lot and lived in many houses together but this one will always be our favourite. We celebrated many birthdays and holidays here, and never had to worry about inviting too many of our family and friends. There was always room for everyone.”

The Philbins listed the home in late 2019 with plans to move to California to be closer to their children. According to GreenwichTime.com, the house recently sold for

US$ 4.015 million – shortly before Regis died of a heart attack.

It’s an English manor gated mansion spanning 13,661 sq ft with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. And it sits on 10,480 square metres of expansive manicured lawns, dotted with mature trees and flower gardens, in a neighbourhood of similar multimillion dollar homes.

While the home is an impressive venue to entertain too, it has the warmth and liveability that encourages family togetherness. It has formal living and dining rooms, a large eat in kitchen, mahogany panelled library, home theatre, family room, sunroom, billiards room, large gym, sauna, wine cellar and tasting room with a full bar.

The house also has seven fireplaces to warm cold toes on chilly New England winter nights. And the lush grounds include a swimming pool, a spa, and tennis courts with terraces for entertaining and dining.

Regis set a Guinness World Record in 2004 for having the most on camera time of any TV personality in history with over 15,000 hours – and he went on to add to the record for many years. He often made a joking reference to the growing on camera count, telling his viewers during his shows: “One more hour!”
