SKIN HACKS

A radiant face

- Achieving that natural glow BY Pia Hatch

Don’t we all dream of having skin that’s clear, soft, supple and glowing? Achieving this can be tricky, and can’t be done by simply following the ‘cleanse, tone and moisturise’ rules of yore. While the most common skin types are oily, prone to acne, dry, sensitive and mature, you may have any one of these or a combination of them. Here’s how you can improve the quality of your skin.

LESS IS MORE If a pea-sized amount is recommended, then using more than that will certainly not help.

EXPIRY DATE Makeup normally has a 12-24 month shelf life but skincare products are usually effective for only three to six months.

USE SUNSCREEN Don’t forget the sunscreen because 90 percent of skin ageing is directly linked to sun exposure. Protect your skin by using a sunscreen with SPF 30 or above.

INSIDE OUT Your skin will suffer if your diet is poor and you don’t drink sufficient water.

DIY FACE PACKS Make the pack, apply it on your face, wait for about 10 minutes until it dries and wash it off with lukewarm water. Voila! You have healthy glowing skin.

STRAWBERRIES A paste containing a few drops of lemon juice, a squeeze of honey mixed with mashed strawberries and a tablespoon of yoghurt can revitalise oily or dull skin.

CUCUMBER Sugar and cucumber provide an instant glow, which soothes and hydrates. Add a dash of sugar into mashed cucumber slices and refrigerate the mix. Once it’s cool, apply the paste on your face. Sit back and relax for 10 minutes. BANANA A honey, banana and sour cream mix is ideal for smoothening and hydrating dry skin. Mash half a banana, add a tablespoon of honey and 1½ tablespoons of sour cream. Apply it evenly on your skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
