Ayurveda is an ancient healing system that offers tools and practices for a healthy lifestyle by using your innate healing ability. In doing so, it allows you to thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The practice originated from ancient philosophies that describe the laws of the natural world and how we can use the principles of nature for healing.

It is a line of treatment that’s designed to help clients create a transformative mind, body and spirit experience – one that promises renewed energy, a relaxed body and relief from persistent ailments.

With concepts of universal interconnectedness, the body’s constitution (Prakthri) and life forces (Dosha) are the primary basis of Ayurvedic medicine. The treatment is said to eliminate impurities, reduce symptoms, increase resistance to disease, mitigate worry and improve harmony in life. Herbs and other plants – including oils and widely used spices – are used extensively in Ayurvedic treatment.

According to archaeological evidence, human civilisation dates back many thousands of years. Cavemen of that age domesticated many varieties of wild plants, and used them for food and medicines. Sri Lanka’s indigenous medicine has similar origins that are linked to the native habitants of the land known as the ‘Balangoda man.’

With its ancient history, traditional Ayurveda medicine, as it’s practised in the island today, is based on an indigenous heritage that has been preserved over thousands of years.

In Sri Lanka, Ayurveda is considered a form of medical care, equal to conventional Western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and naturopathic and homeopathic medicine.

Our island’s tradition of indigenous medicine has its own teachings based on outstanding norms and laws. Historical information gathered from chronicles, inscriptions and epigraphic records indicate that the country’s royalty extended their patronage and custodianship to healthcare through traditional medicine.

In keeping with this age-old methodology, one of Sri Lanka’s leading and most advanced aesthetic and wellness centres

Christell Skin Clinic has added a new wellbeing offering to its growing portfolio of professional skin and body treatments.

Christell Luxury Ayurveda Wellness promises a holistic physical and psychological wellness experience, combining the ancient traditions of Ayurveda with the sciences of modern integrative medicine.

Committed to protecting the standards of formulations that have been used, tested and documented in Ayurvedic medical texts for thousands of years, all treatments on the Christell Luxury Ayurveda Wellness menu are carefully designed, and overseen by the Christell Skin Clinic’s certified Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery Specialist.

Following an initial consultation to determine each client’s individual Prakthri and Dosha, a personalised treatment plan is formulated to be carried out by the centre’s team of trained therapists.

Christell Luxury Ayurveda Wellness offers a broad portfolio of nourishing and healing body treatments, including those that promote reduced inflammation and

overall skin hydration, skin nourishment and improved complexion, body exfoliation for a glowing complexion, weight loss, skin cleansing and improved blood circulation.

The new menu also includes relaxing and tension relieving massages and therapies to treat recurring back pain, neck, shoulder and head massages, as well as other stress relief and curative joint pain treatments.

Among the facial treatments offered are face massages, herbal face masks, and various other procedures to heal dry skin and treat skin discoloration.

“Sri Lankans have a tendency to lean towards all things traditional. And irrespective of the many Western treatments that have seemingly surpassed this ancient science, Ayurveda has withstood the test of time as an effective holistic healing system for many of our modernday afflictions,” notes Prof. Ramani Arsecularatne, Director of Christell Skin Clinic.

“With Christell Luxury Ayurveda Wellness, we hope to offer a certified alternative to those looking to find health and wellness solutions outside of or even in tandem with Western treatments,” she adds.

Established in 2014 by Prof. Ramani Arsecularatne and Dr. Shanika Arsecularatne (MBBS), the Christell Skin Clinic has over the years offered a personalised non-invasive approach to aesthetics and anti-ageing medicine, helping clients obtain the best for their skin, hair and body.

With more than three decades of experience, Prof. Arsecularatne – together with a trained team of skincare therapists and consultants – employs only US FDA approved technologies and treatments in a menu of scientifically proven and holistic procedures. These range from Botox and exclusive dermal therapies, to laser skin rejuvenation treatments, and nonsurgical body contouring and toning.

Since its founding, the cosmetology and luxury wellness clinic has expanded its services, reach and international standing. Recently, it opened a full service salon and beauty clinic – ChristellCutting Station at One Galle Face shopping mall – in collaboration with The Cutting Station.

Christell Skin Clinic also operates in the Maldives and has opened the internationally acclaimed Elixir Clinic’s first global franchise here in Sri Lanka.
