Prince of Wales defeat St. Peter’s after ten years

Prince of Wales after their poor performanc­es in recent times came back to with a vengeance to record a stunning seven wicket win over fancied St. Peter’s in their Under 19 inter- school cricket encounter at Moratuwa yesterday.

Prince of Wales who dominated the first day’s proceeding­s continued their fine performanc­e on the second day too. Resuming on their overnight score of 232 for 4 they went on to make a challengin­g 311 for 7 declared with overnight batsman Shanuka Dulaj making 81.

The last time the Cambrians beat St. Peter’s was in 2002 when Kavinda Silva led the team.

Dharmasoka MV Ambalangod­a coasted to their fourth win of the season with a six wickets win over Kalutara MV at the Ambalangod­a Esplanade.

DSS had to be satisfied with a first inning win over Isipathana at Panagoda.

Thurstan with defeat staring at their face, fought back to force a draw against St. Benedict’s at Kotahena yesterday.

The match between Wesley and S. Thomas’ at Campbell Park ended in a thrilling draw. Both sides had an opportunit­y of gaining a win.

Skipper Pasindu Madushan and Ushan Gunatileke stole the limelight in the drawn encounter between Ananda and Royal at Reid Avenue yesterday.

The first day’s play in the match between St. Servatius Matara and Nalanda at Matara which got off to a start at 12.00 noon saw Nalanda taking first lease of the wicket being skittled out for 107 with left arm spinner Sanjika Ridma doing the damage.
