Dilshan wants to see the flowers bloom
Tillakaratne Dilshan says that he is not worried over the future of his captaincy as long as the youngsters keep performing for Sri Lanka. He said this at Kimberly on Friday night.
"I took a challenge with youngsters. I'm giving opportunity to the youngsters"
"After some three-four years, I can sit down and see youngsters performing. That's my goal" Dilshan said in Kimberley. Dilshan went onto say that he took the captaincy when there was no one to lead the national team.
"Everyone stepped down; they asked me whether I could take the captaincy. So I took the challenge. I'm still enjoying my captaincy" he said.
The current Sri Lanka captain is one of the few cricketers who had taken up many challenges of different capacities in the national team. "I did everything for my country" "When they wanted, I kept wickets. When they wanted, I opened batting and then I went back to number six" Dilshan said. Apart from being a batsman and wicketkeeper, in the hour of need, Dilshan also bowls when the situation demands and a brilliant fielder at any position on the field.
"These are the last few years of my international career. I want to finish my career strongly. I'm giving 100% to my country" Dilshan said.
He was repeatedly asked questions whether he is disturbed over the news coming back from home but the skipper was calm and cool like nothing happening despite his name being said more often than not.
"I'm not listening to any news from home. Anyone can write anything but nothing is officially announced. I'm not worried over what's happening back at home" he said.
Dilshan said that the new chairman of selectors spoke to him Friday but he didn't say anything about appointing a new captain or anything on the subject.
"I want to finish the next match as captain. They have appointed me for that" "After that it's up to them. I'm waiting for their call" Dilshan said.

"He is improving in every single game" "Today (Friday), he was giving opportunity to Thisara Perera to hit out and he batted like an experienced guy in the middle"
