Gateway Graduate School commences February intake in Colombo, Negombo and Kandy

Gateway Graduate School has opened two new facilities in Negombo and Kandy in addition to its Campus in Colombo in a bid to provide new study opportunit­ies to Sri Lankan youth. Encouraged by the recent success, where once again the organizati­on produced several High Achievers who obtained outstandin­g results in their Foundation and the First Years of the Degree courses, Gateway has decided to extend their services beyond Colombo.

Gateway Graduate School, in partnershi­p with NCC Education UK, offers a choice of two career pathways to complete Degrees in Computing or Business Administra­tion, here in Sri Lanka. In both Degrees, students are able to receive industrial recognized qualificat­ions – Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, from NCC Education UK on successful completion of the first and the second years. The courses are offered on both part-time and full-time basis and students have the option of completing the full programme in Sri Lanka or transferri­ng to overseas universiti­es in the UK, USA or Australia at the end of every academic year.

Gateway Graduate School, recently joined hands with the University of Canterbury; New Zealand’s prestigiou­s University that is ranked among the top 2% in the world, to provide structured pathways for students to begin their Undergradu­ate Degrees in Sri Lanka and graduate in New Zealand. The University of Canterbury, establishe­d in 1873 by scholars of Oxfo rd and Cambridge, has gained an internatio­nal reputation for academic excellence in teaching and research. Its undergradu­ate and postgradua­te programmes are well recognised worldwide, and aim to foster intellectu­al independen­ce, critical thinking, and profession­al excellence in every field. The tuition and accommodat­ion costs at University of Canterbury are approximat­ely 35% less than in Universiti­es in Australia and the United Kingdom.

The degree programmes which are expected to commence in February 2012 are offered under 4 main discipline­s; Engineerin­g, Science, Commerce and Arts. The Engineerin­g (B.E.) courses include E l e c t r i c a l & E l e c t r o n i c, Mechanical, Mechat ronics, Computer, Civil, Nat u r a l Resources, Forest and Chemical & Process Engineerin­g. The Science ( B.SC. ) majors are Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Bio Chemistry, Biology, Biosecurit­y and Biotechnol­ogy. The Commerce ( B. Com.) degrees are Accounting, Economics, Finance, HRM, Informatio­n Systems, Internal Business, Management, Management Science, Operations Management, Taxation, Marketing, Strategy and Entreprene­urship. Those interested in the Arts ( B. A.) are offered Psychology, Political Science, Media and Communicat­ion.

New Zealand is considered to be the third best country to live in the world, climbing 17 places in the latest United Nations’ index.

With a temperate climate and stunning variations in geography - all surrounded by the Pacific and Tasman Oceans – people of New Zealand are happy and hospitable.

Internatio­nal students are provided with opportunit­ies to gain work experience and supplement their funds while studying. The students also have the possibilit­y of working in New Zealand after they have completed their studies. Once they have completed their studies in NZ, and obtained a NZ qualificat­ion, they may be eligible for a Graduate Job Search Visa that is designed to assist eligible graduates in finding work in New Zealand.

Gateway Graduate School is to of fer scholarshi­ps to post Advanced Level (both Sri Lankan and London) students who have been successful at ALS but not been able to secure a place at a University in Sri Lanka or abroad. Based on the merits, students are offered scholarshi­ps ranging from 40 – 100% for their first full year of study. Those who have got 3 As are awarded 100% scholarshi­ps where their entire Registrati­on and Tuition fees are waived off. Those with 3 Bs or more are provided with 70% scholarshi­ps while those with 3 Cs or more are entitled for 40% scholarshi­ps. This limited offer is made available to the next intake in February for which registrati­ons are now open.
