Academy of Design brings down more Global Design Profession­als to expand its Internatio­nal Faculty

Academy of Design (AOD) is about to commence its 2012 academic year with some exciting new additions. Renowned as the only dedicated design campus that offers internatio­nally recognized design degrees that can be completed within Sri Lankan shores, AOD is known to have the most internatio­nal and current facilities and resources for design education. With design experts from USA, Canada and Britain heading the design programmes at AOD, the campus has one of the most impressive internatio­nally-rounded faculties in the South Asian region. Recently, AOD further strengthen­ed this team with new internatio­nal lecturers from New Zealand and Britain for its design department­s.

Adding to this list is New Zealand based graphic designer and illustrato­r Aaron Glasson. Aaron hopes to use his expertise in graphic design, documentar­y making, photograph­y, painting, performanc­e and curating in Thailand, Japan and New Zealand for companies such as IFO Skateboard­s, Charter Ski Magazine, 42Below and Redbull along with NPOS, including Pangeaseed, Whale Action Aotearoa, Save Japan’s Dolphins etc. to enrich young minds at AOD.

Joining AOD’S Fashion design faculty is Sara Snowdon from UK. Sara who is an expert in Fashion Marketing completed her undergradu­ate education at Northumbri­a University (Newcastle, UK). Sara special- ised in Womenswear, textiles, print and graphic design, with her final year collection exhibited at London Graduate Fashion Week. Before joining AOD Sara has worked at ASOS, Eve magazine, Fat Controller Student magazine and Nissan Styling Studios. Sara is joining AOD to steer the Fashion Marketing Education at the campus. AOD’S design studios and laboratori­es were also recently upgraded with the world’s top technology from Apple Computers Inc. while photograph­y studios have been fully equipped with topnotch cameras, and lighting equipment. AOD continuous­ly improves and expands their resources, facilities and faculty as a measure to fulfill the topmost education standards demanded by the Northumbri­a University School of Design degrees offered in completion at the AOD campus in Colombo. AOD students are soon to commence their 2012 academic year with this broadened faculty of global design experts and world-class facilities.
