ESOFT produces outstanding results from the BIT External Degree of UCSC
The Bachelor of Information Technology ( BIT) Degree was introduced in the year 2000 by the Late Prof. Vidyajyothi V. K. Samaranayake to cater to the increasing demand for ICT graduates by the Industry, and also to provide opportunities to the students that cannot enter into University via the standard pathway. BIT is a Three Year Academic Degree that is awarded by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). All examinations are conducted by the UCSC and various training organisations provide the material delivery to prepare the students for the exams.
The latest results have been released and based on currently available information ESOFT has produced a minimum of three first class Degree holders and most probably the Batch-top for the fifth year running (this is based on information available via the website, and is subject to confirmation by the University Senate.)

The programme can be completed in three years.
Students with Three A/ L passes can enter directly into the programme. Those without A/ L’s can first do the FIT programme and then enter into the BIT Programme.
The final degree that is awarded is well recognised both locally and internationally.
The syllabus is revised every three years, thereby delivering the latest knowledge.
ESOFT conducts classes for BIT in Colombo, Negombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Bandarawela, Kiribathgoda, Galle, Matara, Jaffna, and Batticaloa.

ESOFT leads the market for both of these programmes and is the only institution in the World to be awarded “A c c r e d i t e d Course Provider” status for all three levels of the BCS Exams.
Students that start their BIT at other institutes or those who do selfstudying in the beginning are later compelled to join up with ESOFT from the second or third year onwards. But we have seen that their success rates are less resulting in an extension of the time needed to complete the Degree.
