CFPS offers Scholarshi­ps for renowned University of London LLB Degree worth Rs.15 Million

The CFPS Academy of Legal Studies which is a part of the CENTRE FOR PROFESSION­AL STUDIES (CFPS) is the leading institutio­n in Sri Lanka that conducts lectures for law-related courses in Sri Lanka . In 2007 the CFPS Academy used its expertise in teaching Law for yet another programme- the LL. B Degree of the University of London . The CFPS Academy has also been granted the Diploma teaching status for the Diploma in Law of the University of London . Academic directions for the LL.B is given by six of its most prestigiou­s Colleges, notably, Birkbeck, King’s College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, Queen Mary College, the School of Oriental and African Studies and the University College London, ( UCL). The CFPS Academy of Legal Studies is a Registered Centre for the University of London Internatio­nal Programmes. In order to commemorat­e 20 years in the provision of Legal Education in Sri Lanka the CFPS Academy is giving students the unique opportunit­y of scholarshi­ps which are worth the value Rs. 15 million. This is offered to students and candidates who have demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l achievemen­ts in both curricular and cocurricul­ar activities in school and in the community.

A scholarshi­p test will be held on the 11th February 2012 at Nalanda College, Colombo 10 from 10a.m.-12p.m. to shortlist candidates for scholarshi­ps. The scholarshi­p test will consist of IQ, General Knowledge and Language (essay and comprehens­ion) in English. The scholarshi­p examinatio­n is conducted free of charge where interested applicants should register on or before 30th January 2012.

The full scholarshi­p offered will be 100% coverage of the fees payable to both CFPS Academy and the University of London and there will also be a three part scholarshi­p scheme that will consist of, Scholarshi­p Category A that will cover 100% of CFPS Academy fees only, whilst Category B will consist of only 50% cost of CFPS Academy fees and Category C, where 25% fees of CFPS Academy only will be waived off.

Ms. Chathunika­neeshauduw­ela won the previous full scholarshi­p “Sir Ivor Jennings scholarshi­p”, offered by the CFPS Academy covering fees payable to both CFPS Academy and the University of London. The presentati­on of the scholarshi­p to Ms. Uduwela could be found in the University of London Official website.

Lectures for the CFPS University of London Course are conducted by an experience­d and dynamic panel of lecturers which consists of Practicing Lawyers, Law Graduates, Academics and Barristers. Special features of the CFPS LONDON LL.B courses include group classes, where individual attention is given to each stu- dent, with students getting maximum time with each lecturer to discuss and clarify difficult areas. Unlimited access is given to online resources and special arrangemen­ts are made for students to get a maximum number of tutorials corrected by qualified tutors.

They also use the latest teaching techniques such as multi media presentati­ons, group work etc in their lectures. Special lectures are also conducted on academic writing. The CFPS Academy also conducts mock trials, moot court and debating activities, organises court visits and parliament­ary visits for their students.
