British High Commission­er meets CMI SL Branch officials

HE John Rankin, the High Commission­er for Britain in Sri Lanka had a meeting with key officials of the Chartered Management Institute ( CMI) Sri Lanka Branch recently at the British High Commission in Colombo

After a few pleasantri­es with the High Commission­er, Sri Lanka Branch President Keethi Jayaweera introduced the members of the CMI delegation to the High Commission­er.

Mr Jayaweera explained how Sri Lanka became one of the first countries to form a branch of the Chartered Management Institute outside UK.

The delegation from CMI Sri Lanka Branch included their Immediate Past President, Col Faiz- ur Rahman, Vi c e Presidents Rohitha Mendis and Varuna Ratnaweera, Secretary Malraj Kiriella and Treasurer Sunimal Weerasoori­ya.

The High Commission­er expressed his good wishes to CMI Sri Lanka on the programmes they carry out – their regular events for members on management developmen­t themes as well as the scholarshi­p programme for Tsunami affected children.

He also showed a keen interest in meeting members of the Forum of Chartered Institutes (FCI) a forum initiated by CMI Sri Lanka branch, that comprises 10 chartered bodies of UK and assured that he would help CMI Sri Lanka in their management developmen­t endeavours while making use of these initiative­s to promote business activities between UK and Sri Lanka.
