British High Commissioner meets CMI SL Branch officials
HE John Rankin, the High Commissioner for Britain in Sri Lanka had a meeting with key officials of the Chartered Management Institute ( CMI) Sri Lanka Branch recently at the British High Commission in Colombo
After a few pleasantries with the High Commissioner, Sri Lanka Branch President Keethi Jayaweera introduced the members of the CMI delegation to the High Commissioner.
Mr Jayaweera explained how Sri Lanka became one of the first countries to form a branch of the Chartered Management Institute outside UK.
The delegation from CMI Sri Lanka Branch included their Immediate Past President, Col Faiz- ur Rahman, Vi c e Presidents Rohitha Mendis and Varuna Ratnaweera, Secretary Malraj Kiriella and Treasurer Sunimal Weerasooriya.
The High Commissioner expressed his good wishes to CMI Sri Lanka on the programmes they carry out – their regular events for members on management development themes as well as the scholarship programme for Tsunami affected children.
He also showed a keen interest in meeting members of the Forum of Chartered Institutes (FCI) a forum initiated by CMI Sri Lanka branch, that comprises 10 chartered bodies of UK and assured that he would help CMI Sri Lanka in their management development endeavours while making use of these initiatives to promote business activities between UK and Sri Lanka.
