‘Australian Education Excellence Showcase 2012’ in Colombo – come explore a “Future Unlimited”!

The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) with the support of the Australian High Commission­and partners Australian Education Internatio­nal will stage the “Australian Education Excellence Showcase 2012” in Colombo on Saturday, 25 February 2012 from 10.30 am till 6.00 pm at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Crystal Ballroom Lower.

Twenty Australian institutio­ns consisting of universiti­es, TAFES and colleges willengage directly with Sri Lankan students wishing to explore further education in Australia.

Speaking about the event, Acting High Commission­er, Sonya Koppe,said Australia and Sri Lanka have shared extensive bilateral relations over many decades. The modern bonds the two countries have built are the sum of many parts, and include a history of partnershi­p in areas such as migration, education, trade and investment, people-to-people links and developmen­t cooperatio­n. Australia has been a developmen­t partner from the time of Sri Lankan independen­ce in 1948 and remains committed to contributi­ng to the economic and social developmen­t of Sri Lanka, including throughstr­engthening educationa­l links between the two countries.

Au s t r a d e ’ s Trade Commission­er, Mr Tom Calder, noted that Austrade took pleasure in partnering with Australian institutio­ns to give prospectiv­e Sri Lankan students and their families an opportunit­y to look closely at possible future education prospects in Australia. He further noted that this initiative aims to grow the educationa­l partnershi­p between Australia and Sri Lanka,as well as helping tosupport skills developmen­t for the Sri Lankan economy and society.

Australia combines world class education with a multicultu­ral environmen­t providing students an opportunit­y to learn and to live in a progressiv­e and vibrant society. Australia continues to be at the forefront of research, developmen­t and innovation across many disciplinc­es, from the sciences to sport.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011- 12 recently showcased 10 per cent of Australia’s universiti­es as ranking in the top 100, an achievemen­t to which no other country can lay claim.
