Sri Lankan students to receive Rs. 2.5 billion worth of Indian scholarships EdCIL – Indian Education Fair 2012
The Government of India, while extending courtesies towards its closest neighbor, selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals that excelled in studies for the award of these scholarships. Nearly 270 scholarships and highly subsidized slots are offered for undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral Programmes in Science, Engineering, Economics, Business, and Humanities. Subjects also include Indian Classical Music, Dance, Painting and Sculpture. Selection of candidates is done in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Sri Lanka, to pursue higher studies in some of the leading universities in India. The scholarships amounting to 2.5 billion Sri Lankan Rupees, represents a three fold increase in the number of scholarship slots that would be spent over a period of 3 years for the specified Indian scholarships for the local students.
EDCIL – Indian Education Fair 2012, which is organized for the second consecutive year by the EDCIL (India) Limited, wide opens its gates for endless opportunities in the higher education sector in such an environment with lot of encouragement, support from the Government of India and the endorsement of High Commission of India in Colombo.
