Sri Lankan students to receive Rs. 2.5 billion worth of Indian scholarshi­ps EdCIL – Indian Education Fair 2012

The Government of India, while extending courtesies towards its closest neighbor, selects meritoriou­s Sri Lankan nationals that excelled in studies for the award of these scholarshi­ps. Nearly 270 scholarshi­ps and highly subsidized slots are offered for undergradu­ate, post graduate and doctoral Programmes in Science, Engineerin­g, Economics, Business, and Humanities. Subjects also include Indian Classical Music, Dance, Painting and Sculpture. Selection of candidates is done in consultati­on with the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Sri Lanka, to pursue higher studies in some of the leading universiti­es in India. The scholarshi­ps amounting to 2.5 billion Sri Lankan Rupees, represents a three fold increase in the number of scholarshi­p slots that would be spent over a period of 3 years for the specified Indian scholarshi­ps for the local students.

EDCIL – Indian Education Fair 2012, which is organized for the second consecutiv­e year by the EDCIL (India) Limited, wide opens its gates for endless opportunit­ies in the higher education sector in such an environmen­t with lot of encouragem­ent, support from the Government of India and the endorsemen­t of High Commission of India in Colombo. Yet another valuable exhibition displaying the entire spectrum of higher educationa­l opportunit­ies, EDCIL – Indian Education Fair 2012 will showcase its best Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka from 17th to 19th of February at the Sirimavo Bandaranai­ke Memorial Exhibition Centre at BMICH in Colombo.

While due recognitio­n was offered by the High Commission of India in Colombo towards this Higher Education Exhibition, the involvemen­t of EDCIL (India) Limited as a ‘Public Sector Enterprise’ of the Government of India made immense contributi­on towards the success of its 2nd edition in 2012.
