Study Abroad assisted by Edlocate

-

Edlocate has successfully enrolled yet another record number of students to Australian universities it represents in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Most of the students for undergraduate courses have already left for Australia whilst the students for post graduate courses are finalising their formalities.

The students for the February 2012 intake with their parents were invited by Edlocate for a pre departure event held at the Ramada Colombo Hotel on 15th January 2012. which was attended also by 09 present students studying in Australia in different universities.

It was a good opportunity for new students to learn about the first hand experiences of those in Australia. Many of them gave their frank opinions on a number of issues that concerned parents and new students during the formal session and they mixed up well during the refreshments.

Edlocate always makes it a point to put the students at different levels of studies in contact with each other even during the study periods through their Australian Representative office as this is one area to enable students to settle down and concentrate on studies. It was really heartening to listen to some senior students giving advice to new ones as to how well they should concentrate on studies without getting involved in distracting activities.

Edlocate has opened its latest branch office in Jaffna to assist the students in the Nothern Province who are keen to proceed abroad for tertiary studies. The counsellors in this office and the Kandy office being linked to the senior counsellors at the head of fice in Colombo, students are provided with a service par excellence at all of the offices. The services we provide from initial career & course guidance to course and institutional selection, obtaining placements, enrolling and getting student visa issued are handled with due care and understanding the aspirations of the parents and students, limitations in many areas and to make sure that only genuine students are assisted to proceed abroad for studies.

Students who do not have direct entry results to universities for both u/g and post graduate courses are provided with excellent pathway programs. Those seeking entry to u/g courses can choose University Foundation Programs and diploma courses with excellent articulation to degree programs. The counsellors are competent to guide students on course selection and for those doing p/ g courses even seek assistance of supervisors from specific schools in a university.

Present day students who excel in studies, are focussed and have mapped out the career they want to enter from younger days could seek to graduate in an accel- erated manner. There are excellent Foundation programs offered by universities to those with very good O/L results. These students need not waste time doing A/L examination but after O/L enter a foundation program and enter the years 01 of the undergraduate program on successfully completing the Foundation with the required score. Whilst almost all universities have such Foundation Programs which are normally conducted by accredited educational institutions of the universities, the Trinity College program to Melbour ne University, The ANU College to ANU and the LIBT for entry to Brunel University in UK stand out as very good options. The outfits that provide the Foundation program are part of the university themselves.
