Chocolate’s in the air

Walking into ‘Chocolante’, down Duplicatio­n Road in Colombo, is quite literally like walking into a parallel universe governed by chocolate. An invigorati­ng aroma greets you with the anticipati­on of indulgence into a dreamy evening wrapped in the most exquisite collection of chocolates. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, ‘Chocolante’ is set to create the perfect ambience to celebrate love.

“Valentine’s day is many things to different people – a chance to start new relationsh­ips, rekindle old ones or celebrate how important someone is in your life, and chocolate plays a huge role in all of this,” says the Director of Chocolante. “We, as a dessert cafe thought we would do justice to all who are celebratin­g this special day, by giving them a special t r e at . ” A n d so Chocolante showcases a collection of purpose- made sweets and treats this February.

Opened thre e months ago, with the idea of presenting Colombo with a state of the art Dessert Café , the café also is a perfect hangout for the evenings, with ergonomic designs and a unique garden. A special ‘ Chocolate Room’, has a fine collection of chocolates to choose from and adds a touch of class to the café. The chocolates are all hand-moulded, and are backed by the manufactur­ing giant Ritzbury. A set of delectable truffles, that would satisfy any sweet tooth, can be selected here, including truffles and cakes.

Chocolante also hosts a coffee bar, with two star attraction­s -- the frozen hot chocolate – a one- of- a- kind creation and the ‘ Kalo Milkshakes made from the ‘Munchee’ chocolate biscuit.

February’s collection of treats include heartshape­d chocolates, homemade ice creams, smooth gelatos, and the ever delicious chocolate fondue, with live music creating a sultry ambience throughout Chocolante’s romantic indoor seating, as well as its outdoor courtyard.
