Reebok continues with an enhanced offer
The resurgence of Lankan cricket seems to be paying its own dividends. The Lankan Cricket’s clothing sponsor Reebok have singed on their rights for another three-year term with 30% increase, but the exact figure is still undisclosed.
According Sri Lanka Cricket sources Reebok not only enhanced their offer, but now will give a bigger service too.
Now they will not only cover the National team and the ‘A’ side, but also the women’s national team and the under ‘19’ team.
The women’s national team will be involved in the T-20 World Championships which will be held in Sri Lanka in September and the teenagers will be involved in the under 19 World Cup conducted by the ICC in Australia in July/august.
Meanwhile the high riding Lankans flew into Bangladesh yesterday to take part in the Asia Cup tournament.
The tournament will get underway today with hosts Bangladesh taking Pakistan. Sri Lanka will have a shootout with India on Tuesday and then take on Pakistan on Thursday.
Sri Lanka will play their last round robin game against the hosts Bangladesh Tuesday March 20.
During the tri- series in Australia the Lankans went through some anxious injury problems with vice captain Angelo Mathews on the sideline and paceman Lasith Malinga playing the final with a groin injury.
However so far things seems to be working fine as the tour team management still has not sent in their injury report to the SLC.
With their row of wins in ODIS in the recent past the Lankans also have climbed a few notches in the rankings and now lies at the fourth position.
Australia who won the Commonwealth Tri- series is still on top with 127 points while South Africa who beat New Zealand in the current series is at the second posi- tion with 118 points.
2011 World Cup champions India with 117 points is that the third place while Sri Lanka now has moved to the fourth position with 114 points followed by England (111), Pakistan (104), New Zealand (86), West Indies (79) and Bangladesh (62).
