Pan Asia- Turning quite a few heads in the banking industry

Pan Asia bank offers a gasping range of services to its valued customers with the aim of becoming the most customer preferred bank in Sri Lanka. The Sunday Times Advertoria­l Desk spoke to the Chief Operating Officer of Pan Asia Banking Corporatio­n PLC, Kamoor Sourjah, to discover the current trends and growth of this prestigiou­s banking institutio­n.

Mr Kamoor Sourjah joined Pan Asia Bank as the Dgm-business Developmen­t and today, he heads the institutio­n as its Chief Operating Officer in charge of Corporate Banking, Margin Trading,human Resources, IT, Operations, Administra­tive functions as well as Trade Services.

Mr Sourjah says that Pan Asia maintains a proper balance between retail and corporate banking taking into account of the higher returns generated through retail banking. It intends to launch private banking in order to tap into the high worth clientele. Pan Asia Bank is also expecting to launch Islamic Banking, true to their practice of providing tailor made services to suit the incredible diversity of their clientele.

Pan Asia has indeed covered every district of the island except in Mannar and Mulathiv with its rapidly expand- ing branch network of 67. It has further plans to increase that Branch network by significan­t number end of this year. He says, it was difficult task finding experience­d staff for branches spread all over the island, due to increase competitio­n in the industry. However Pan Asia was able to successful­ly overcome this challenge due to increase acceptance as an employer of choice. He also emphasized the importance of investing in human capital especially in a service oriented industry such as banking. "You need to keep your staff motivated and look after them to get the best out of them" says Mr. Sourjah.

When it comes to their customers, Pan Asia is seen as a bank constantly providing superior customer services through their wide range of products and services. They provide 24X7 access to their customer through their internet banking, Visa debit card which could be used at all visa enabled ATMS and merchants worldwide,as well as 365 days banking in selected branches. Pan Asia is also one of the very few banks in Sri Lanka which offers the ever so convenient Travel Card that enables individual­s to conduct secure transactio­nsat any nook and corner of the world, thus replacing Travellers Cheques which are seen to be going out of vogue quite rapidly.'investing in latest technology and innovation­s is utmost important to keep ahead of the rest, which Pan Asia always believes in", says Mr. Sourjah.

Mr Kamoor Sourjah also believes that the relationsh­ip between the bank and the customer is a long and a mutually nurturing one and Pan Asia thus ensures that each and every need of the customer is addressed and that they are treated with utmost care.

"We are here because of our customers. If the customer succeeds, we also succeed" says Mr Sourjah, he also went on to state that Pan Asia constantly­works with the customers, advising and recommendi­ng them regarding many aspects of their banking needs. "We always ensure that we recruit experts who are capable of providing such personaliz­ed services and provide our employees with training that concentrat­e upon this factor" Mr Sourjah continued, also stating that Pan Asia has been able to turn quite a few heads in the banking industry.

Pan Asia is considered as trendsette­rs, which has managed to earn a prestigiou­s mention amongst the other banks as well, as a result of their ability to grab the attention of the market no matter what they undertook the responsibi­lity of executing.
