The 1st Au s t r a l i a n Government-owned University in Sri Lanka – University of Ballarat ( UB) - has launched its own stateof-the-art Colombo Campus at 128, R.A.DE Mel Mawatha Colombo 3.

The Campus Director Mr. Bajwa said there are two unique things about the Colombo Campus. The first is that it is in a unique neighbourh­ood with quick meal restaurant­s like Queens, the Australian­owned Cricket Club Café, slow food restaurant­s like the Gallery Café, the Fashion Bug Department Store, Lassana Flora florists and the famous Tea Cup Café not to mention the Triumph outlet. Full-time students who are enrolled directly with the University of Ballarat will receive special discounts at all these places.

The 140 year old University of Ballarat is a five- star rated university. In Sri Lanka, it will launch its modern MBA degree on the 18th of March 2012 with an outstandin­g faculty comprising the best profession­als in Sri Lanka. Some of the faculty has exposure to Harvard and Cambridge, which are top universiti­es globally.

The Ballarat University MBA is modern with key subjects like Competitiv­e Analysis and Change Management, which have been especially designed based on the crisis economic climate that the business world needs to operate in. The MBA is focused to high intensity with 1 year of study. Bajwa said they will offer 15 scholarshi­ps to Sri Lanka in the 1st year.

Students are encouraged to complete their courses in Sri Lanka, but those desirous of seeking transfers to the Australian Campus can do so. Students can transfer 100% credits from the completed courses in Sri Lanka to the Australian Campus as and when they feel they are ready to pursue their further education in Australia. However, the Australian University fees will apply for studies in Australia.

CIMA and CIM graduates will, as per the University procedures, be permitted up to four credit exemptions in the course.
