These teachers still have the concern to serve the students who really need attention.

They have structured a campaign to distribute the needed stationaries to a remote school in Uva Province as a social service. The Sudu Vathura Ara Vidya l aya in Kumbukka of Monaragala district was the blessed school which picked by the association with the help of Mr. A r i y a d a s a Jaya s i n g h e, Zonal Education Director of Monaragala District for the charitable deed.

Though the school has up to grade 11 classes, it comprises only around 50 students those who come from the poor village. Fifteen teachers strive themselves to provide quality education to those poor students.

So many old teachers and students of Bandarawela, Kudakusumbalika M.V., whole heartedly donated exercise books, school bags, water bottles, library books and other stationaries for this meritorious deed. Mrs.mala Wijesundara of Ideal Nursing Home, Bandarawela who is an old student of Kuda Kusum M.V. bestowed a First Aid Box with all kinds of first aid medicines which is a treasure for the school.

The present president of the association Mrs. Suvineetha Dassanayake stated that the distribution of the donations was the unforgettable moment for all the teachers, as all the students worshiped the teacher, eyes filled with tears. The students sitting for their O/L examination received the mathematics instrument boxes with high grat i f i c a t i o n . Moreover, she requested the students to make up their minds to study hard and go to the society as useful citizens.

The founder member of the society Mrs. Kusum Ranaweera said that it was a great pleasure for the retired teachers to be among the students again and do even a little service as they did earlier.

The Zonal Director thanked the teachers for the kind work and told that he is doing his best to improve the condition of Education in the undeveloped area. The principal thanked the past teachers for the help given to his school.

After the distribution, in return the staff and the parents treated the teachers with milk rice, manioc, cowpea which the teachers enjoyed very well.

All the members of the association filled their hearts with extreme satisfaction which cannot be earned by any other achievements. Certainly these retired teachers have given an impressive service to the nation.
