These high exam scores enable students to attend the most prestigious universities around the globe.

The International Baccalaureate ( IB) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a non- profit educational foundation. A group of forward- thinking educators created the IB Diploma Programme. What started as a single programme for internationally mobile students preparing for university has today grown into three programmes for students aged 3 to 19. The three programmes for students help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalis- ing world. Currently there are 3297 IB schools in 141 countries educating over 966,000 students. Recognized as the leader in international education, the International Baccalaureate ( IB) Diploma Programme cultivates the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that enable students to excel in university. The IB works with universities to promote broader recognition of the Diploma Programme for the Diploma Programme graduates entering university each year.

More and more schools around the world are changing their curriculum from A- Levels to the IB as it is growing in popularity as the most well rounded curriculum available. The Overseas School of Colombo is fully dedicated to providing the best education possible to the Sri Lankan and expatriate students. Through the IB Diploma Programme, students gain rigorous and balanced academic preparation, an ability to draw on knowledge and understanding of various cultures and histories, and the experience of learning how to think critically and apply what they have learned in different contexts and across disciplines. The IB understands that success in higher education and beyond involves thinking critically and creatively. The IB Diploma Programme’s challenging curriculum educates the whole student, developing the capacity for inquiry, research and problem- solving as well as essential skills for communication and collaboration.

The Overseas School of Colombo, located on a green and spacious state- of- the- art campus in Pelawatte, Battaramulla, is dedicated to developing students into responsible learners, striving for excellence within a culturally diverse school.
