Bankhill International Educare Institute: One of a kind institution set up to International Standards

-

The urgent need in the country for high quality, care for children in safe, healthy and child developmentally appropriate settings, with qualified staff brought Bankhill Educare into existence under the umbrella holding of Bankhill Family Central which is committed to building wholesome, familycentered environment.

Our Child care and Pre School Center provides an informal atmosphere and a child- oriented, developmentally appropriate curriculum where children learn through play and the exploration of their environment. We believe in giving children opportunities to become independent and successful in this environment, begin to successfully solve problems and learn to express their ideas and feelings.

As research has shown children’s play is the essential component of a developmentally appropriate curriculum, we plan, promote and deliver activities that take into consideration the developmental stage and individual ability and interest of each child. [: Piaget, Vygotsky, Tina Bruce, and Gallup Poll 2009] centered. ‘’ The welfare of the child is of paramount importance’’ is the view we work with. We keep to recommended t e a c h e r- c h i l d ratio, according to the age group. This is an integral part of working with children as it ensures that each child will get the at t e n t i o n and care they need to deve l o p. Our health and safety standards are stringent and adhere to internationally recommended standards.

The main component of our practice is observation of children. Research has shown that observation of children is important as it enables to examine and understand children’s development.

Observations play a major role in our practice and it is a vital tool, as through observation we get to know the child’s interests, abilities and stage of development and make individual development plan that will cater to the uniqueness of the child. Personalised activity plans help children to develop their individuality, self- confidence and self- esteem enabling them to reach their potential. We observe each child at least twice a week and all observa- tions are kept on file, discussed with parents and are followed up.

Our setting is purposefully arranged to enhance children’s’ experiences. We have varied activity centers such as water play, sand play, art and craft, music, real life experiences areas etc. We also have easy open access to outdoor play which enables the children to move from indoors to outdoors without any restrictions and with constant adult supervision. This is essential to our practice since we encourage children to learn through activities that they choose for themselves as it has been proven that children learn best through first hand experiences. Learning takes place through interaction with adults, peers, and environment.

Our equipment and resources are all child friendly and chosen with care to offer optimum learning experiences for each child, and we have taken into account the varied and unique interests of children. They all conform to international safety standards.

Last but not least, we are proud to have only highly qualified and trained teachers/ carers to guide and supervise your child’s learning and development journey. There are no ‘ maids’. Our qualified staff continues to develop themselves through professional updating to best deliver the programme that is needed for children.

We are committed to high quality care and learning based on child’s interest and play and our goal is to be the exemplary child care centre in the country to better serve the needs of our children. Please do come visit us to see and feel the difference.
