Colombo Dockyard attracts super luxury yachts

Titan Fleet Management, France a specialist yacht management company, recently sent its super luxury yacht Lauren L. for repairs to the Colombo Dockyard in Colombo. This seven star category 90 meter long yacht called in Colombo Under the 10 year class survey repairs coupled with hull surface preparatio­n and coating to meet a yacht finish. Co- lombo Dockyard said in a media statement that it was selected after a few rounds of negotiatio­ns and a site visit by Nick Sevier, Fleet Manager from Titan Fleet Management and Duncan Mcgregor, Refit - Repair/ Project Management Consultant from of Eclipse Marine, Thailand to ascertain yards capability to handle the project.

The vessel arrived in the yard on January 31 and shifted into dry docks for the repair which was handled on schedule within 40 days.

On completion the Lauren L sailed to her next charter starting point in Seychelles.

"The owners were pleasantly surprised with the excellent facilities at their disposal coupled with the quality workman- ship, profession­al approach to meet the owners requiremen­ts were highly appreciate­d," Colombo Dockyard said.

High net- worth luxury yacht repair sector prospects look promising, with many of the yacht operators terminatin­g their cruises close to Maldives in the Indian Ocean, reverting to repair- maintenanc­e soon after a charter, it said.

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) recently won a Gold award at the 2010/ 11 Vision Awards Annual Report Competitio­n in the telecommun­ications sector. Organised by the League of American Communicat­ion Profession­als ( LACP), SLT was also placed 19th overall in the Top 100 Worldwide Rank of this much coveted global annual report competitio­n. " SLT is the first listed Sri Lankan company to be in the ' top 20' of the Global LACP Vision Awards," according to a company media release. Greg Young - Chief Executive Officer, Sri Lanka Telecom commented on this accolade: "This honour is doubly significan­t because the SLT annual report was pitted against several participat­ing Fortune 500 companies. SLT would like to thank our media partner, Emagewise ( Pvt) Ltd., for creatively expressing our vision for the annual report with such high standards."

The competitio­n attracted one of the largest numbers of submission­s ever, representi­ng a broad range of industries and organizati­onal sizes. Materials were judged in peer- level competitio­ns and SLT was able to surpass some of the more prominent telecommun­ications companies around the globe in the quality of our annual report, it said.
