Commercial Bank to shower gifts on remittance customers this Avurudu
The forthcoming ‘Avurudu’ season will bring an unexpected windfall to hundreds of recipients of remittances from the Commercial Bank of Ceylon.
The country’s benchmark bank, one of the strongest players in the field of remittances, has announced that it would present 200 shopping vouchers, each worth Rs 10,000, to recipients of remittances via its ‘e-exchange’ service between 15th March and 12th April.
Lucky winners of this exciting Rs 2 million bonanza titled ‘Avuruddata Badu Mallak’ are to be chosen at a draw, and will receive their vouchers to purchase consumer goods to celebrate Avurudu.
Meanwhile, every recipient of a Moneygram remittance who collects Rs 50,000 or more from a Commercial Bank branch between 1st and 13th April will receive a traditional ‘pahana’ (brass lamp) from the Bank, while all recipients of Moneygram remittances of any value during this period will be gifted a branded pen, the Bank announced.
"The Commercial Bank is a preferred choice for remittances because of our island-wide network of 214 service points, and our partnerships with many of the top international remittance companies,” said Sanath Bandaranayake, Deputy General Manager Operations of Commercial Bank. “With this promotion we are giving customers yet another reason to transfer funds via the bank rated internationally as Sri Lanka’s best.”
Commerc i a l Bank’s ‘e-exchange’ service is a sophisticated yet low cost real time online money transfer facility which is available to remitters via a network of agents in over 50 countries. Recipients of remittances can collect proceeds from any of the Bank’s computer- linked service points, a significant number of which are open even on bank holidays, and access their funds through its network of 502 ATMS, which is the largest cash-dispensing system in the country.
