SL remains most lucrative for young IT job seekers : survey

-

A recent Sri Lankan IT industry employee salary survey has revealed that the country "remains one of the most lucrative opportunities for young job-seekers", according to Sujeewa Dewaraja, the Chairman of local IT-BPO body SLASSCOM, the organisation commissioning the survey.

Named the "Salary and Benefit Survey 2012", and conducted by Pricewaterhouse Coopers, this survey, the second consecutive annual one in its series, also found that the "industry-wide attrition levels remain low when compared to competing countries in the region". Additionally, the survey also noted that "Sri Lanka remains one of the most cost-effective sources for offshoring a broad range of services".

Further, while indicating that its survey was one of the "most comprehensive" done by anyone, anywhere, in the global IT/BPO/KPO space, SLASSCOM also suggested that the 2012 survey process had benefitted from increased participation by companies in the local IT industry.

It also added thet the survey results had provided "market mean, median and percentiles on surveyed job positions under each and every job family of both the sectors" as well as "insights into the general human resource trends emerging in the sector". At the same time, also stated, the data gathered came from a "substantial number of small, medium and large organisations in the IT, ITES, BPO and KPO sectors".
