CFPS Academy of Legal Studies awards Scholarships of Rs.15 Million for the year 2012
A ceremony conducted by the CFPS Academy of Legal Studies, a pioneering Institution of Legal Education in this country, was held on 26th February at Sambuddhatwa Jayanthi Mandiraya, to award scholarships worth of Rs. 15 Million for the year 2012 to new undergraduates seeking Law Degrescholarshies and to take on new students who were interested in following a world renounced law degree from the University of London. Professor Jenny Hamilton, Director Undergraduate Laws ProgrammeUniversity of London International Programmes, was also present on this occasion and the scholarships were awarded under her patronage. Nirmal Vimukthi Kumara a student from the University of Moratuwa, who came first at the examination held for the award of scholarships in the year 2012, was successful in being eligible for the full scholarship that covers 100% of the fees payable to both CFPS Academy and the University of London. In addition, the CFPS Academy has taken measures to award 7 scholarships, exempting educational fees of the CFPS Academy by 100%, 27 scholarships with 50% and 215 scholarships at 25%. Attorney-at-law Nanda Muruttettuwegama, Managing Director of the CFPS Academy, Attorneyat-law Saliya Pieris, Director/ Senior Lecturer, Attorney-at-law D.S.R. Patrick, Senior Lecturer, Legal Advisor Asanka Yatawara, Chief Operating Officer and Asini Virkar, Manager also participated for the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor Jenny Hamilton stated that the University of London is very happy regarding the contribution which is being made by the CFPS Academy towards the campaign to expand legal studies. She emphasized that all efforts possible will be taken in the future to expand educational opportunities as far as possible.
