“At Alethea every student is special”

-

Alethea boasts 83 years of excellence in guiding generations of students into the competitive arena of the new millennia. Examinations are offered in all subject streams for O/ level and A/ level. In addition to this Alethea offers Edexcel International Primary & Secondary Curriculum Exams in English, Maths and Science. ACCA Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting, Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting, Diploma in Accounting and Business and CIM Introductory Cert i f i c ate in Marketing will be made available from July this year, enabling our students to acquire an international certificate and added qualification other than the O/ L and A/L certificates. At Alethea academic excellence is seasoned with strong religious beliefs. Every religion is respected, taught and religious practices and value education adhered to as an integral part of the school calendar.

The school actively encourages participation of sport, social awareness projects and co- curricular activities all of which carry a percentage of marks into each student’s final report. This is in keeping with international and local universities’ requirements of student versatility in all avenues. Individual skills are recognized and encouraged amongst groups to further enhance the multi cultural ethnicity of not just Sri Lanka but the world at large. We, at Alethea pride ourselves in bringing out the best in each individual student. Teachers often work one on one with students after school, to enable them to be on par with the rest of their class. The Alethean staff is of one mind that this extra effort results in building a fur- ther rapport between learner and educator.

An average of approximately 25 students to a class is maintained to allow active learning and individual participation. Teachers attend workshops under CIE & EDEXEL and thus are up to-date in both teaching methods and syllabuses. Co- curricular activities in areas such as Speech & Drama, and English Support Program are made available to the students to further enhance their soft skills. These then are some of the reasons why Alethea strongly believes that the way forward lies in the core of each individual student and works towards identifying and developing that same core of leadership.
