The Birmingham City University Business School, recently announced the commencement of its top-up for ACCA with the MSC Accountancy and Finance programme.

The innovative Masters Degree programme, specifically designed for those with full CCAB qualifications and engaged in fulltime employment is set to commence on April 20, with lectures to be conducted at the Cinnamon Lakeside.

Widely regarded as “the first of its kind in the UK”, the programme’s focus also includes ACCA members and Affiliates. Having already received wide acceptance and success in the UK for the six-month fulltime course over the last five years, the programme is now available here in Sri Lanka on a blended and flexible, part-time basis.

“We have taken to step of introducing this mode of study to allow potential students the opportunity to complete the programme in a period of just 6-9 months without the added burden of having to give up employment and incur the additional cost of a full-time residential study in the UK,” a spokesperson for BCBS said.

The programme of study, says the spokesperson for the campus, will entail a 10-day bloc of evening lecture sessions here in Colombo, totalling about 48 direct teaching hours, with lectures delivered by Birmingham City Business School academic staff. In addition, in keeping with the focus of the course and to encourage those who wish to avail of this opportunity, tuition fees can be paid in three instalments to ensure completion.

ACCA, as the global governing body for the top accountancy qualification, continues to deliver quality education and opportunities for career advancement through its Sri Lanka office. All courses are designed in conjunction with industry leaders and includes a highly market relevant portfolio of qualifications that continue to evolve.

With 1,500 registered students and 150 members in Sri Lanka, ACCA continues to be regarded as the defining qualification in accounting and finance with ready acceptance by the corporate sector.

The organisation’s landmark ‘ACCA Approved Employer’ programme includes many Fortune 500 companies and provides true value through placement of graduates in recognition of the excellent support and development opportunities provided to ACCA students and members.

Applications are now open for the second cohort of the programme, which is scheduled to commence on April 20 this year.
