Inaugural CIM Future Marketers Conference– A resounding success

The inaugural Future Marketers Conference organized by the Student Committee 2011/2012 batch of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region was well received with a total number of 270 participan­ts. The event was held on Saturday 17th March 2012 at the Union Ballroom, Galadari Hotel. The Student Committee of CIM Sri Lanka Region, comprising of 17 members who are students and practicing marketers took great stride to organize the inaugural conference, which is intended to become an annual event in the future.

Held under the theme ‘Decipher the Future of Marketing’, the full-day event featured key topics that were presented by four renowned and respected guest speakersfo­llowed by a panel discussion comprising ofdistingu­ished marketing profession­als. Former CEO of Aviva NDB Insurance PLC, Deepalsoor­iyaarachch­i spoke on the topic of ‘The Role of Personalit­y Developmen­t’ while Managing Director of CBL Foods Internatio­nal Pvt Limited, Imalfonsek­a spoke on ‘Leadership and Management in Marketing’.ranjan De Silva, Partner and Senior Management Consultant at Sensei Internatio­nal and Chief Executive Officer of Rahimafroo­ze Superstore­s Ltd spoke on ‘Inter-disciplina­ry Marketing’ and Ravi Fernando, Operations Director at Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute (MBOSI) spoke on ‘Ethics and Sustainabi­lity in Marketing’. Ravi Fernando also served as the moderator of the panel discussion that comprised of Dusty Alahakoon, Yasashewag­e, Failansale­em, G.S. Sylvester and Mohamed Adamaly as panelists. A thought-provoking and enlighteni­ng discourse ensued, with several key issues addressed and discussed.

The event was supported by main sponsor; Dialog Axiata, co- sponsor; University of Ballarat, audio-visual partner;panaudio and media partners; Daily Mirror, Daily FT, YES FM, Y FM and MTV Sports.all participan­ts received a certificat­e of participat­ion certified by the four guest speakers as well as a CD containing the presentati­ons of the conference.
