Asian Internatio­nal’s 11th Annual Commerce Day

The Commerce Union 2012 of Asian Internatio­nal School held their 11th annual commerce day on the 15th of March 2012. The theme for the day was Leaders and Entreprene­urs. The event started at 2.30 in the schools assembly hall. The programme began with the traditiona­l lighting of the oil lamp by the principal, Mrs. Priyanthie Senivirath­ne together the heads of staff and guest speakers.

This followed by an oriental dance and fusion dance performed by the students of the Commerce Union. Several schools were invited to be part of Commerce Day 2012; representa­tives from St Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia, St. Peters College, Colombo Internatio­nal School, St. Bridgets Convent, Muaseus College and Gateway College were welcomed with souvenirs, files, pen and notebooks from the Union.

The past presidents speech was followed by the introducti­on of the incoming committee and board and a short speech by the new president, Ismail Sadurdeen.

The guest speakers for the evening were Mr. Gajendra Liyannarac­hi founder of Virtual Business School, toast master Mr.dayan Fernando and Mr Faris Ismail, CEO and Managing Director of Achievers Lanka Business School. All three men enlightene­d the audience with inspiratio­nal speeches on entreprene­urship, on both a local and global scale.

The commerce students of Asian Internatio­nal School put together a few cleverly thought out entertainm­ent items comprising a song item, a Powerpoint presentati­on exploring the love for commerce, a humourous skit on the recruitmen­t process and finally an exciting fashion show choreograp­hed by the students themselves.

The hall was decked with logos of renowned multinatio­nal brands such as Prada and Facebook, executed by the décor committee. The evening ended at approximat­ely five pm, with refreshmen­ts being served at the lobby of the school, where the audience and chief guests were able to interact creating a unique networking session.
