- Best New Artiste Mekalaa Gamage Nilan Maligaspe with Best Choreograp­hy award

Derana Music Video Awards 2012 held recently introduced a number of young new talents to the Sri Lankan music industry.

Best Music Video and Best Reggae Music Video were won by Iraj Weeraratne’s ‘Policiya’ while the Special Jury Award was won by Amila Galappatht­hi for ‘Kandulu’ by Kasun Kalhara and Best Hip Hop Music Video by Indika Wickramara­tne for ‘Tuk Tuk’.

Romesh Sugathapal­a won the award for the Most Popular Music Video for ‘Digu Dasa Dutuwama’ which was held at The Blue Water, Wadduwa last night.

Nilan Maligaspe’s choreograp­hy for Nirosha Virajini’s ‘Piyanowa’ directed by Pradeep Darmadasa won the Best Choreograp­hy award. Ranidu ft RTS’S ‘I Got Ur No’ won the Best Sri Lankan English Video, . Clews’ ‘Tuk Tuk’ won the Best Sri Lankan Hip Hop Video.

Iraj Weeraratne’s ‘Lion Nation’ directed by Nilan Cooray won the Best Cricket Video while the Best Internatio­nal Collaborat­ion was won by Ranidu ft Jakes’ ‘Megaththam’ directed by Sunthar Premkumar

The Best New Artiste was Mekalaa Gamage and the Best Alternativ­e Video was won by Kasun Kalhara’s ‘Kandulu’ directed by Amila Galappatth­i , the Best Sri Lankan Rock Video was Indrachapa Liyanage’s ‘Dasin’ directed by Muvindu Binoy.

The Best Sri Lankan Baila Video was awarded to Lanthra Perera’s ‘Mage Girl Friend’ and was directed by Prasad Ranasinghe while the Best Video Adaptation of a Movie Song was Udaya Darmawarda­na’s ‘Le Papillons Noir’s Film and the Best Sri Lankan Tamil Video was Sachith.

The Best Sri Lankan Rap Performanc­e was by Krishan Maheson (Papare) while the Best Singer In a Dance Act was awarded to Dushyanth Weeraman’s ‘Dedunna Wage’ and the Best Sri Lankan Pop Video was bagged by Sun J. Bandara ‘Diamond Girl’ and directed by Dileepa P Solangaara­chchi.

The Most Popular Internatio­nal Collaborat­ion of the Year was won by BNS ft Asha Bhosle -Dedunna Sedi.
