Nilusha Ranasinghe appointed as Marketing Head for ACCA

ACCA announced the appointmen­t of Ms. Nilusha Ranasinghe as the Market Head for Sri Lanka and Maldives following the resignatio­n of Ms. Aruni Rajakarier.

“ACCA is poised for accelerate­d growth in Sri Lanka and the Maldives on the work done not just by ACCA but our members, learning providers and other stakeholde­rs in the last few years. Awareness of the brand has grown significan­tly and our members and students are sought after in both the corporate and public sectors for their skills and knowledge. ACCA has been at the forefront of developing the accountanc­y profession globally and in the region and is now engaged in contributi­ng further to the accountanc­y education in the country. I am happy to leave ACCA in a position of strength in the capable hands of my colleague Nilusha Ranasinghe” stated the outgoing Country Manager Mrs. Aruni Rajakarier.

Nilusha Ranasinghe is an Attorney at Law by profession and she started her Career as a legal counsel . She thereafter joined the NDB Bank, where she was seconded to NDB Housing Bank to set up their Licensed Specialize­d Bank operation. At NDB Housing Bank she was also the Company Secretary and the Head of Legal. After her 9 year stint in the Banking Legal field, she joined ACCA as their Business Relationsh­ip Manager in 2007.

As the Market Head, Ms Ranasinghe will be responsibl­e for managing the day to day operations and driving the ACCA brand in both Sri Lanka and Maldives and strengthen­ing relationsh­ips and further ties with the local ACCA tuition providers, as well as identifyin­g and seizing new market opportunit­ies. She will also be instrument­al in initiating programmes that will build further partnershi­ps with relevant profession­al bodies, business entities, important partner organizati­ons, regulators and employers and work together with them to contribute to the developmen­t of the accountanc­y profession and promote their role as advocates of sound business practices, champions of sustainabl­e business developmen­t and identifier­s of value drivers ,which will in turn lead to high-performing organizati­ons.

Commenting on her new appointmen­t , Ms. Nilusha Ranasinghe said “I am delighted be a part of such a highly reputable organizati­on known for its dynamism and effectiven­ess and I am looking forward to making a contributi­on at an institutio­n that I have been part of for 5 years and continue to admire. Sri Lanka and Maldives remain important markets for ACCA and are countries which we see as having significan­t growth potential and I look forward to enhancing ACCA’s reputation in both these countries.”

She concluded by saying,” I truly believe that ACCA and its members have a pivotal and positive role to play in the economic landscape of corporate Sri Lanka and I am committed to ensure that ACCA continues to be the qualificat­ion of choice among profession­als and employers . It has been truly inspiring to see how ACCA has played a key role in transformi­ng the lives of many individual­s who have taken the ACCA qualificat­ion as a stepping stone to their successful career pathway. Therefore our main objective will always remain in developing and offering to students , a comprehens­ive and globally recognized qualificat­ion , that comprises of the highest standards of practice and ethical conduct , that will be endorsed and accepted by employers . As ACCA's head in Sri Lanka and the Maldives , I will be looking to build on the significan­t growth in student numbers and members we have achieved in recent years and to build closer, valuable business relationsh­ips with key employers throughout the country.”

Also welcoming the appointmen­t was Ms. Nisreen Rehmanjee, President for ACCA Sri Lanka who said “Nilusha joins us at an exciting time of change for ACCA and she will play an important role to help formulate and progress the exciting plans which we have for ACCA Sri Lanka in the coming year”.
