The T4 case study (previously TOPCIMA) is unlike any other CIMA exam. It is the final, and the most significan­t h u rd l e of t he CIMA Profession­al Level Examinatio­ns. Achievers Lanka Business School adopts a unique approach in preparing students for this examinatio­n. What is T4 case study? The exam primarily involves applicatio­n of strategic management accounting techniques; where the students are presented with a case study before the exam which is referred to as the pre- seen material which revolves around a specific company and its industry ( for September 2011 and November 2011 exams, the pre- seen was from supermarke­t industry).

Students are required to write a profession­al report for 100 marks prioritisi­ng, analysing, recommendi­ng and justifying decisions where the emphasis is on assessing students' capabiliti­es and competence­s in applying appropriat­e knowledge. It also demonstrat­es the higher level skills of synthesis, evaluation, and skill in presenting and communicat­ing informatio­n to users. Our Approach To tackle such a task a student should have developed his or her analytical skills, logical reasoning and the ability to provide commercial­ly sensible recommenda­tions within the g iven time constraint. It is backed by considerab­le research delivered by Senaka Kakiriwara­godage, a very talented lecturer backed by a high level of corporate experience.

Senaka is the Head of Capital Markets of NDB Investment Bank, a leading investment bank in the country. In his normal course of employment he is engaged in business valuations, corporate restructur­ings, arranging of finance, mergers and acquisitio­ns, project appraisal, feasibilit­y studies, etc. for many corporate clients. Therefore, he possesses the practical experience and the theoretica­l knowledge required to dissect and analyze the business problems facing the Case Study Company and to provide appropriat­e recommenda­tions.
