Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne made an official visit to CINEC on the 17th of July 2012. Minister Senaratne was warmly welcomed by Capt. Ajith Peiris Group Managing Director of Ceyline Group of Companies, along with the Directors, Deans and Senior Staff of CINEC Campus.

After holding discussions with the Management of CINEC, the Hon. Minister checked out the facilities available at the campus; which, in addition to having the only 3D Simulator in South East Asia, has state- of-the-art new air conditioned Classrooms and Laboratories and a new specially designed Fire Simulator which was declared open recently. The Hon. Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne was high- ly impressed by the facilities available for students and the learning environment of the CINEC Campus.

This visit was of particular importance to both the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and the CINEC Campus, as it marked the beginning of a new venture in Training. CINEC, which has built up a reputation for providing world class, cost effective education in Sri Lanka, has extended its training programmes to fishermen with the addition of the “Certificate in Fishing Technology” course. For the convenience of those residing in all parts of the island, CINEC Campus has arranged to conduct the training in Malabe as well as the CINEC branches located in Jaffna and Trincomalee. On completion of the train- ing and obtaining the certificate, these students can obtain employment overseas on board fishing vessels. CINEC Campus, in its path of expansion and progress, considers this new training programme as another milestone, as it will help change the lives of many youth and adults who want to have a better future with good employment.
