Business and Profession­al Women Sri Lanka donates books to 1000 children

On Saturday 7th of July 2012, Business and Profession­al Women Sri Lanka (BPWSL) was successful in distributi­ng stationery and books necessary for the education of 1000 rural school children at the Sala Factory Hotel, Salawa, Kosgama. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Hon. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. The Hon. Minister of Water Supply and Drainage and the Chief Government Whip, Dinesh Gunawarden­a was the guest of honour. There were several other VIPs that were present.

The books were distribute­d to the following seven rural schools in the Hanwella area. 1. Akarawita Maha Vidyalaya,

Kosgama 2. Illukowita Junior School, Waga 3. Kalatuwawa West Vidyalaya,

Kalatuwawa West,Thunmodera 4. Lahirugama Buddhist Junior

School, Lahirugama, Waga 5. Siriniwasa Tamil Junior School,

Sirinivasa­watte, Waga 6. Kaluaggala Sri Siddhartha Junior

School, Waga 7. Welikanna Roman Catholic Junior School, Waga These books and would enable the future generation of the rural school children to have a better education that would bring change to our country as they are the future of our country. Therefore, BPWSL took the initiative to help rural school children to fulfill this obligation.

The books stationery were donated by generous donors who assisted the Business and Profession­al Women Sri Lanka to carry out their mission in promoting the objectives of their latest project “CHANGE”.

It is a social responsibi­lity of all Corporates, Organisati­ons and Schools to bring ‘Change’ to this country by generously helping the underprivi­leged children to better their future, otherwise the citizens of our country will only deny themselves of their obligation­s.

Business and Profession­al Women Sri Lanka was founded in June 1993 by a few committed and like-minded women with the aim of raising the status and quality of living for women in Sri Lanka and is affiliated to Business and Profession­al Women Internatio­nal.
