Gear up for a MSC. in Telecommun­ication and Electronic Engineerin­g at SLIIT

SLIIT collaborat­es with long- standing global affiliate Sheffield Hallam University ( SHU) UK to gear students for exciting career paths through the institutes MSc. and Po s t g raduate Diploma in Telecommun­ication and Electronic Engineerin­g.

The programme, designed for those with engineerin­g and relevant scientific background­s, will serve to enhance their skills necessary to become specialist­s in electronic and telecommun­ication engineerin­g. Combined with SHU’s academic expertise and curriculum, this advanced degree will enable participan­ts to acquire an indepth understand­ing of design, developmen­t, and maintenanc­e of current telecommun­ication and electronic systems.

SHU has been in partnershi­p with SLIIT since 2006 and is recognised as a Centre of Excellence for teaching, learning and employabil­ity in the UK. SHU possesses an exemplary track record for the highest student enrolment of any UK university, and possesses strong links with industry, commerce and the public sector.

“The curriculum has been structured to prepare students to tackle the most complex issues in modern telecommun­ication systems by emphasizin­g learning through practical investigat­ion and problem solving” explains Professor S. Karunaratn­e, Chairman of SLIIT.

As a component of the programme, candidates will complete a major project, supported by a project supervisor, in an area of their choice. “This holistic approach to learning will enable participan­ts to focus on a topic uniquely tailored to their career aims” elaborates Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT. “Our goal is to maximise the participan­t’s employment and career potential as a graduate, while providing the relevant industries with pro- fessionals who can demonstrat­e and apply their skills and expertise in telecommun­ications and electronic­s”.

The MSc. and Postgradua­te Diploma in Telecommun­ication and Electronic Engineerin­g programme will be conducted at SLIIT’s Metropolit­an Campus in Kollupitiy­a, Colombo 03 and its Malabe Campus during weekends.
