D.S. sets new record in education

D.S.Senanayake college Colombo 07, one of the leading discipline­d schools in the island with a short span of history of 45 years was establishe­d in 1967 by Mr. R.I.T. Alles , whose fame as an educationi­st has spread beyond our shores..The school has maintained a good reputation from its inception, where the ambience that promotes a healthy learning culture stems primarily from the charisma of the head of the school .The great success of DSS college is still appreciate­d by everybody as a top class leading discipline­d school.

D.S. Senanayake College Colombo 07 has reached great heights in education today by setting another new record of achieving 2 top tens in the G.C.E. A/L Results of 2011. A student Kanishka Chandrathi­lake in the Maths section became the 8th position and S. Mohamed Nuzran in commerce section become 5th position in the Island wide results.

A total number of 32 students obtained 3 As in the advanced level and also have recorded a 51% of students eligibilit­y for university admission.

The primary school of D.S. Senanayake which is categorize­d by by Ministry of education as a model primary has made remarkable progress in recent years with great contributi­ons from the Old Boys Associatio­n and school developmen­t society,which are the two pillars standing ahead with the members of the staff to fulfil the vision of the new principal Mr.D.M.D.Dissanayak­e,who wants to make it a number one school in the island a reality.

A large number of students have performed well in scholarshi­p exams with 69% taking over 100 marks in 2009, 74% in 2010, 79% in 2011.

In GCE O/L exam in 2011, the number of children who took 9As is 48, and 8A is 76. This is a tremendous growth over the previous years.
