“The development work you have so actively supported in the North Central province has helped us to become the second most economically strong province from being one of the weakest. We are now second only to our economic capital – Colombo,” said Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Duminda Dissanayake at the closing ceremony of World Vision’s programme in Kebithigollewa on July 11. The 12-year World Vision Area Development Programme was completed in June 2012.

Since 1999, in partnership with the community, World Vision has conducted a range of initiatives in key sectors including education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, and economic development in Kebithigollewa – one of the poorest and under-developed regions in the country.

“It gives World Vision great satisfaction to see a community that is strengthened and can take care of their future. We hope you continue to work towards development and share your knowledge and experience with others too,” said Suresh Bartlett, National Director of World Vision Lanka.

The annual family get-together of St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala will be held on August 26 at Villa Palm Hotel, Pamunugama.
