Message from the President of the Association of Human Resources Professionals

- Gayathri Chakravarthy

We at HRP take great pride and pleasure to have been able to conclude the 5th edition of the HRM Awards 2012 on the 31st July and in the process “raise the bar” once more in many aspects.

The HRM Awards 2012 featured a record number of entries of 79 and more sponsors than ever before. Content wise, our partner AON Hewitt added value to the event and streamlined the data- obtaining- andreview processes to provide judges with the comprehensive information needed to make an informed and accurate decision.

It was especially encouraging to note the number of first time entrants honoured with an award on the HRM Awards night, which indicates the rising level of importance given to human resources management at a corporate level. It is also a clear sign that HRM is not only present and thriving amongst established organisations but also quietly spreading at a national level.

It cannot be gainsaid that people are the mainstay of any organisation. Therefore, it is especially rewarding to witness HRM being given its rightful place amongst other corporate functions; with businesses throughout Sri Lanka reaping immense rewards due to the implementation of better people management processes.

On behalf of HRP, I congratulate all the winners of the HRM Awards 2012 and wish them continued success in all their future endeavours. May HRM continue to play a pivotal role in your internal management systems and lead to yet another win at the next HRM Awards.

We also extend our thanks to all the participant organizations of the HRM Awards 2012 for their interest, support and participation which resulted in the Awards being a resounding and very glamorous success. Our sincere appreciation and thanks are also extended to our kind sponsors, not merely for their generous sponsorship and support, but also for partnering us on our journey to bring HRM to the forefront.

Last, but certainly not least, “hats off ” to the members of the HRM Awards Committee for organising yet another dazzling and very spectacular HRM Awards!

Thank you, Gayathri Chakravarthy President HRP 2011/2012
