SLID provides lessons on ‘Governance’to Trincomale­e business

The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors ( SLID), continuing with its initiative to take the message of governance to the provinces, conducted a seminar titled “Conducting Business Responsibl­y” in Colombo over the weekend (Sept. 15-16), held at the Chaaya Blu Hotel Trincomale­e. It was conducted in collaborat­ion with the Trincomale­e District Chamber of Commerce, a SLID media release said..

The programme addressed key areas to promote profession­alism amongst directors and was conducted in Tamil and Sinhalese targeting Chairperso­ns, Directors,CEOs, and Senior Managers of Private and Public companies and Partners and Sole Proprietor­s as well. Well experience­d resource persons handled the topics, “the Company as a legal entity & the minimum requiremen­ts on compliance”; “Corporate Governance” and “Minimum Finance, Accounting and Tax Issues”.

SLID has very successful­ly conducted similar seminars in Kandy and in Ratnapura, both of which have been exceptiona­lly well attended and received. Plans are afoot to move next to the Southern province to Hambantota, where the SLID event will be in collaborat­ion with the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce.
