This success has motivated Wisdom to expand its reach in Sri- Lanka and provide a quality CIMA education to students beyond Colombo. This resulted in the establishment of Wisdom Business Academy in Matara, a few weeks ago.

Mr. Shanil Jayasekara, Director of Wisdom Business Academy and lecturer in Accountancy, highlighted why a student would benefit by following the CIMA programme after completion of the Advanced Level examinations, “In my personal opinion the current education system does not gear a student to be prepared for employment.

I see a gap between the requirement of a corporate environment and a student just after A/Ls”. Mr. Jayasekara added “CIMA is a good option because you gain a complete qualification in two- and- ahalf years and also at a very rea- sonable cost. It is a professional qualification that will help you to advance your career and better equip you to fit into the corporate world”.

Why should a student select Wisdom to pursue their CIMA qualification? Mr. Jayasekara responded to this question, saying “Wisdom has been in existence for over 10 years and it is the oldest CIMA learning partner.

We are a ISO 9001: 2008 certified company, this certification has enabled us to be more improved in maintaining a strict quality of the programme in its delivery.

This ensures that we, as an academy, provide only the best education for our students”. Highlighting the achievements over the past decades Mr. Soumyraj added “Wisdom has also produced 7 world prize winners in the past ten years and out of a lecture panel of twelve, three lecturers have been awarded the Tutor of the Year award – which is determine by CIMA UK. Our lecturers have been recognised internationally, as well, with many of them being invited to conduct CIMA revision classes in countries such as India and Malaysia and the feedback we receive after these sessions is very good”.

What makes Wisdom Business Academy stand out from its competitors? Mr. Soumyraj added, “As an academy that has a student base of over 5000 per year, Wisdom has created an environment that encourages students to discuss doubts and questions with lecturers. Lecturers also conduct mock examinations and ensure that students attempt these questions. The answers are marked and a detailed feedback is provided to the student”. Mr. Jayasekara added, “We also ensure that our students develop as well-rounded individuals, Wisdom Business Star is a leadership training programme that enhances the skills a student needs to succeed in a corporate environment. We focus on developing presentation skills, confi- dence, and practical application of knowledge”.
