SLC coaches engaged in educational programme

-

For the benefit of cricketers and coaches from schools and clubs across the island, the National Coaching Department of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) recently launched a series of educational coaching television programmes, in an attempt to foster a better understanding of the game in the country.

SLC used the expertise of their National Specialized Coaches, Marvan Atapattu, Champaka Ramanayake, Ruwan Kalpage and Piyal Wijetunga in producing this material, which tackles the technical aspects of batting, fast bowling, spin bowling, fielding and wicket keeping. This knowledge, from former national players who have taken up coaching, will help viewers learn the game better.

“This was a long-awaited need which has today become a reality”, the National Coaching Department expressed.

“While many of this kind have been produced overseas over the years it was important that we produced this type of educational material in our own mother tongue for the better understanding of our male and female cricketers and coaches in the country, and also this is our very own production.”

The Coaching Department thanked all those who were involved in producing this material, especially the SLC’s Coach Education Unit and the CSN Television Network. They said that their keenness in embracing a project of this nature would benefit the cricket loving public and all those directly involved in the development of cricket in Sri Lanka.
