Mobitel comes forward to assist the National Child Protection Authority

-

The National Mobile Service Provider Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel has come forward to lend their support to the National Child Protection Authority. This will involve a number of projects, which will be undertaken by Mobitel, to help develop and build the National Child Protection Authority's (NCPA) programme and its work, and achieving its vision of creating child-friendly and protective environments for children.

Mobitel will initially work on promoting the NCPA's 24hour hotline: ' Child Line' - 1929. Subsequently, Mobitel will also work closely with the NCPA, towards strengthening their call centre, via training programmes as well as an infrastructure upgrade.

Furthermore, Mobitel will carry out several fund-raising initiatives on behalf of the NCPA, which will lead towards the set- up of safe houses, which are aimed at ensuring the highest level of security to child witnesses and abused children.

"It is important that we protect our children and their rights. We are responsible for their protection and development, and we must ensure that they are able to achieve their fullest potential. We, at Mobitel, have taken it upon ourselves to go over and beyond our mandate of being the National Mobile Service Provider, fulfilling our brand promise of 'We Care. Always.' - lending our fullest support to the National Child Protection Authority towards achieving its vision. This CSR project is of utmost importance to us, and falls well in line with our mission to 'Care, Share and Deliver'," said Mr. Nimal Welgama, Chairman, Mobitel.
