IIT graduates are an asset says satisfied employer

-

A popular saying holds that employees are what make the Company. This is true even in today’s technologically advanced world. No matter how many computers, programmes and other sophisticated machinery are used, the Company owning these would be nothing without the driving force of its employees.

At the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) this practical knowledge together with other equally important practicalities are drilled into the students from the very beginning. This is because IIT being an important contributor to the IT industry employee work force understands that theoretical knowledge will only suffice to direct you on to the correct path, however it is the practical knowledge dissemination that will ensure you are able to follow through and reach the end of the journey.

As a public Company engaged in developing, implementing and supporting ERP applications , IFS has been a long standing player in Sri Lanka since1997. What sets IFS apart is that the systems implemented by IFS proactively guides the entire business process of the customer to work cohesively and seamlessly bringing considerable savings in all aspects providing actionable on-line visibility to the entire business. As a result, business decisions taken will be more accurate, whilst the company could as well more easily adapt to changes in business trends. The Company currently has over 2000 customers and employs close to 2700 and employees over 50 countries.

As a matter of policy, IFS recruits graduates and relevant professionals with technical skills from both private and public institutions in the countries they work in. With over 50 countries under their wing, IFS is a global player integrating various cultures and practices into their work and work environment. The blending of skills from a variety of regions ensures that the IFS solutions offered are an amalgamation of knowledge and skills from a wide range of communities and cultures. This gives the customer an International exposure and experience of the solution offered.

Of the many sources of graduate recruitment in Sri Lanka, the Informatics Institute of Technology ( IIT) has been a key and vibrant contributor of valuable resources to IFS. IIT students are able to contribute towards the company and its work in a more substantial manner and in a quicker time span and thus have made a positive impression in the industry.

IFS attribute this to the soft skill development in IIT graduates as well as their experience in working as a team and working under pressure to achieve deadlines. The level of knowledge possessed is not restricted to a theoretical one and therefore these graduates are able to mould themselves and adapt faster and better the result being finding themselves few notches above the average.A look at the top level management in most leading IT industry Companies will be sufficient testimony of the contribution IIT alumni make in the real working world.

IIT graduates have handled a variety of successful projects for IFS such as projects for large tea exporters (implementing tea mixing solutions and solutions to streamline manufacturing, distribution, sales and finance processes) , real estate customers ( offering Asset Management, HR Management and Finance Management solutions) Shoe manufactures ( offering solutions to streamline Manufacturing, Distribution, HR and Finance processes) etc.

“Having the right blend of technical knowledge and soft skills, IIT graduates are an asset to IFS and in fact any other IT industry Company” said Mr Asanga Marasinghe – Director Software Development and Technical Services South Asia and Country Director Bangladesh, IFS.
